While the first promise of the land to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob was given by God repeatedly in the Book of Genesis, it is restated numerous times throughout the Tanakh. It is further referenced in the New Testament. Clearly it is God’s will for the Jewish people to have Israel as their homeland.
It was on June 7th, 1967, during the famed six-day war in the Middle East, the Israeli army drove the Jordanian army out of the Old City of Jerusalem, unifying God’s Holy City as part of the Jewish nation for the first time in two-thousand years.
Look, we all don’t get parts of the Bible interpreted correctly at one time or other. It’s our human nature to struggle with spiritual truth. But some mis-interpretations are more egregious, and have much more serious consequences, than others. So it is with replacement theology, which has directly and indirectly led to anti-Semitism, as well as the significant persecution and slaughter of Jewish people.
Av is the fifth month , and Tisha represents the number 9, so Tisha B’Av means the ninth of Av. It is a day of extreme sadness, even called the saddest day of the year in Israel, and for the more orthodox Jewish folks around the world. It is a day of fasting in remembrance of significant tragedies over the millennia which occurred on or near that date.
